Wasteland

April is not the cruellest month
The heat waves wash our sins away
They know when we are weeping
Apologies don't grow on trees
There's nothing bold about bad decisions
And nothing godly about throwing stones
There's nothing worse than a confident bastard
Hang up the phone and disconnect
Lip sync
The last winter drained of apology
Lip sync
A spring in our step, and the crunch of bone
Lip sync
All rise for the national crisis
Lip sync
We won't ask for anything again
You broke the locks so you could preach for extra security
Lip sync
The last winter drained of apology
Lip sync
A spring in our step, and the crunch of bone
Lip sync
All rise for the national crisis
Lip sync
We won't ask for anything again
The wolves aren’t at the door they're already inside the house
You'll tell your story to the eager historians
And we'll hide the truth in works of fiction
They'll remember you
But we won't be forgotten
We'll remember you
And we won't be forgotten
You will outlive us
But we will outdeath you
Somehow it's always someone else's fault
And never yours

New Texts
04:14
|
|
||
Crows descend upon the knife
Diaries cut into new texts
Choreography of the vowels
Stand back and watch the coral burn
Memories bound in Human skin
Books forgotten before birth
Present tense folding inside itself
Bourne away by alcohol again
We name loss, we call doubt, we open our mouths but nothing comes out. It's for the best. The ocean waves mourn for us or at least that's the story we were told, that's the story we bought, and we do not want for riches. The driftwood litters the beaches and alludes to forgotten violence, and it mocks us because it does not share the same dangerous thoughts. Night descends and I wish the days were better because at night we pray for nothing and I feel better in the summer sun.
Catharsis in making fire
You can burn the texts
But not their words
Bend our spines 'til they crack.
And we ache from overuse
You can Whittle away the mistakes but they will hunt you down, crawl under your skin and at night they will spill out like a fever. Drink the soft water and wait for satisfaction, you will find none here. You will find nothing. Bridges do not burn alone by the time the fire takes them they are already gone. Transformed into something new. Ashes to the water. Crosses to the sky. There are people who float. They drown. They drown inside me. And I'm not sorry for their loss.
We are the ones that you need. Drown in me.

Quiet Dark
04:58

In the quiet dark I am panicking, I'm feeling for the walls
In the light behind my eyes
I am choking I am falling away
In the quiet dark I can feel the heat in your breath
In the light poring from my skin
I'm a nightmare, a claustrophobic wreck
Bridges burn and replacements fill the void with unconnected space
Travel one place to another
Hoping no one knows my name
Hoping for the silence of our love
Hoping for the next word
Hoping for the pause in between
Hoping for the oblivion of sleep
In that quiet dark
I can't remember your name
I can only see parts of your face
I can't remember the shade of blue
The colour your eyes are or were
I don't need forgiveness
I don't need for want of you
I need your forgiveness
Apologies, folie a deux.
In the quiet dark I am pulsing like a black box recorder
Waiting for discovery or waiting to be lost for good
I am looking for the edges
Whispering in static
I am not waiting for a reply
In the quiet dark I am floating in the void of you
In the infinite density I am nothing and you are all
You can only buy the seeds in winter
Only to plant in spring
The roots protrude from poisoned soil
Repetition burns and
Repetition burns and
Repetition burns

Collapse
04:54

It's time to rebuild the city on higher ground
Even if you can swim there's a decent chance that you'll drown
Build a future on the hillside from the dream homes of yesterday
Bring with you the memories, of that brighter day
But we can't go back
and there is a choice to make because
There is always light
There is always mirth
There is always collapse
There is always worth so
We ransom ourselves over and over for a different way
Drinking deep from the poisons of yesterday
We will believe it and we will collapse and
we will believe it for as long as it lasts
Digging holes in the sky never seemed to help
But There's more space up there and it is fertile soil
And the earth will crack
And the oceans rise
And our atoms shake
And it is more intense than a thousand screams
Than a sound with a thousand different possible meanings
You will spend your lives waiting for the right time and they will steal it in your dreams
And there we collapse
And there we will fall
Talk about the weather
Talk about the past
Talk about doing fine
And how nothing lasts
